My view of the design and my drawing style has changed dramatically throughout the years. The main reason why they are different would be because of the amount of experience I had with design. As I have gotten older, experience with design gradually increased as well. But also my preference of what I like and the style of drawing has changed as time as past.

These two pieces of work are my folio during NCEA Visual Arts - Design Level 2 and 3. It is seemingly clear how much it has changed from the use of colours, composition and the drawing style. From just looking at these two pieces of work that are only a year apart, tells that I have grown so much within a year.

When I directly compare the character design, the style of character has dramatically changed from Level 2 work (2017, left) to Level 3 work (2018, right). Although I was exploring a more realistic approach for the chosen theme in Level 3, it is clear that it has improved by looking at the rendering of colours as well as proportions of the characters.

I have also produced a different style of work throughout 2019-2020. Some pieces of work had a specific aim to explore a certain type of style, but it is evident that I never stopped improving. The works that I have done throughout 2019 are in chronological order.

My aim for the future is to develop the skill of producing a wide variety of styles that are suitable for specific clients. Although I want to have the ability to create different kinds of design, I am also aiming to develop my own style of drawing for personal work. Since my level of illustration has been going up and down, I wish to stabilise this in the future as well. However, my main aspiration would be never to stop improving.
